Regina Caeli
The Regina Caeli is the Easter antiphon to Our Lady. It asks Mary to rejoice because her Son has risen, with an alleluia in every line.
When it’s prayed
From Easter Sunday to Pentecost, in place of the Angelus and at the same times. In 2027, from March 28 to May 16.
The prayer
Praying together? One person says the V. line and everyone answers with the R. line.
Regina Caeli
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. For he whom thou didst merit to bear, alleluia, hath risen, as he said, alleluia. Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia.
R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
Regina Caeli Closing Prayer
O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
